Learn to how to make a wreath for your front door! Nothing makes your home look more inviting then beautiful decorative wreaths! This is an easy tutorial using deco poly mesh ribbon, sparkling ornaments, and an artificial Christmas wreath.
You can make this wreath in just a few hours! I think one of my favorite crafts for Christmas ideas is most definitely this project.
All you will need is an artificial wreath, wreath decorations, ribbon, poly mesh ribbon, decorative sprigs, outdoor Christmas ornaments, and a hot glue gun.
The first thing you want to do, is place your mesh ribbon around your wreath. The one great thing about using an artificial wreath, is using the wired branches to hold your ribbon in place. Make loops with your mesh ribbon, and attach then in place by wrapping one of the branches around the ribbon very tightly.
Make sure all of your loops are the same size. Try to make one loop closer to in center of the wreath, and then make the next loop closer to the outside.
Your mesh ribbon will extend out past the wreath, keep this in mind so you don't end up making a wreath that is too large for your door!
When attaching the red ribbon, follow the same instructions. Remember to keep your loops the same size.
I like to choose sprigs that have color and sparkle!
If you have a glass storm door, you have to choose your ornaments wisely. I know this for a fact, because I did not choose wisely one year. Yes, I smashed the ornaments when I shut my door too hard. Creativity doesn't always coincide with logic.
Make your bow separate, and then tie your bow onto the wreath. Next, add ornaments and sprigs.
If you would like to personalize your wreath, you can find wood letters at the craft store. I painted the letter red, and then painted white circles. (I outlined the circles in pencil first, and then painted them.) Next, I added green glitter to the middle of the circles with Elmer's glue. Too cute!
Told you it was cute! Playing with glitter is like playing with Play-do, it just takes you to such a happy place.
See? Nothing says "Merry Christmas, come on in let's eat and be merry", like a wreath!
