Nursery Decorating Ideas
to help you create a wonderful
baby room for your little angel

Welcome to a fun page all about nursery decorating ideas! There is nothing more delightful and exciting than having a baby! Gone are the days when the nursery design was either pink, blue, or yellow. The doors are wide open to all colors, all themes, and all styles.

So whether you are decorating a baby boy nursery or a baby girl nursery here are some precious ideas to help get you started.

Decorating a nursery is one of the most fun home DIY projects! There is nothing that brings more joy, then the anticipation of bringing home a new baby!

Baby Room Themes

There are so many great nursery ideas to choose from today! Some mother's love to have their nursery theme incorporated into their baby shower ideas.

This is an adorable nursery by Robyn from Family of Farmers blogspot.com. The wall color is a custom color from Sherwin Williams called "baby blue blue". This is an adorable baby boy nursery!

She purchased flashcards on Etsy and framed them in white frames from the dollar store! Great idea for baby nursery wall decor!

This room would definitely be fit for a princess. I love the bed crown above the crib. The simple idea of fabric draping down around the crib makes this baby bedding dreamy!

Bed crowns can be very, very expensive.  Some bed crowns run around $500. Below is my idea that will fit anybody's budget.

I found the metal self at a local craft store.  Ten yards of white tulle was purchased, along with five yards of sheer fabric with a swirl design.

All I did was wrap the sheer around the tulle and place it through the wires of the shelf. Then I cut a 24" piece of both fabrics to make the bow. Easy and cheap! My kind of decorating.

When planning nursery designs, it is best to give some thought to designing the room that will transition from baby to preschooler.

You can choose a particular children’s book and decorate the room around that theme. Make a display shelf that holds that particular book and place other things on the shelf that fit your theme.

For example, I did a church nursery and displayed a Noah’s ark book, and then purchased little plastic animals from a local store: two of each, of course. Then I used a hot glue gun to attach the animals onto the shelf. It turned out adorable.

When deciding on baby room ideas, think about going with a certain theme. For a baby girl's room I decorated with a garden theme. I used a book from Becky Kelly. Later, I went to a local craft store and went through their garden section. I found adorable 2 - 3ft painted flowers made of wood and tin. I also purchased little butterflies and bumble bees.

I attached the flowers at the baseboard, and then I used a hot glue gun to attach the little bees and butterflies around the room.

The sky is the limit with nursery decorating ideas. But, the best way to come up with them is to go to a local craft store and walk the aisles, or go to a book store and look at the children’s books for ideas.

Nursery Window Treatments

Deciding on nursery window treatment ideas can sometimes be overwhelming. Remember, you can always just go with a solid white or cream, then hot glue beautiful tassel trim to one side of your panel. Finish off your window treatment by pulling the curtain to one side with a pretty bow.

Wall Mural Ideas

There really isn't anything more beautiful in a nursery than having a wall mural painting, or even just a touch of hand painting.

Painting in a room can really define the theme of the room. There is nothing like walking into a nursery and feeling like you just entered Dreamland. It is wonderful to surround your child with peaceful sweet images. Hand painted nurseries are one of my favorite nursery decorating ideas.

I love hand painting that is lightly painted on the walls. You don't have to go overboard on a wall mural.

This is a photo of a wall mural I saw in a model home. It looks like a watercolor print!  Gorgeous!

Wall Decals

If having a customized wall mural is not in your budget, no worries! Wall decals are the perfect solution.  Choose your wall decals carefully. There are some wall decals that are very low-grade and extremely cheap looking. My favorite wall decals are from Layla Grace. Below is an example of some of my favorites.

Be sure to check out these beautiful wall decals, they are a fraction of the cost of custom hand painted wall murals.

Nursery Wall Decor

Everybody loves to display the name of their new bundle! I found these letters at Hobby Lobby! They look adorable above the bed. I put ticky-tack under each letter to keep them firm against the wall.

Every child loves to see their name on a wall.  Purchasing letters is a great investment because it transitions from nursery to toddler, on up without going out-of-style.

Instead of using one large mirror, try a grouping. These silver mirrors really worked well above the dresser. I bought ornate, metal scrolls that I painted off-white, and hung one above each mirror.

Hang a shelf in your babies' room. Decorate it with unique accessories. If the shelf has pegs, then hang one of their newborn outfits.

Hang a little silver rattle with white ribbon from the shelf. Find a store that monograms. This little bunny has the babies' name monogrammed on its ear.

I hope these nursery decorating ideas are helpful! Also, check out even more adorable baby shower ideas from Cutest Baby Shower Ideas.com.
