Decorating a nursery is one of the most fun home DIY projects! There is nothing that brings more joy, then the anticipation of bringing home a new baby!

Baby Room Themes
There are so many great nursery ideas to choose from today! Some mother's love to have their nursery theme incorporated into their
baby shower ideas.

This is an adorable nursery by Robyn from
Family of Farmers blogspot.com.
The wall color is a custom color from Sherwin Williams called "baby blue blue". This is an adorable baby boy nursery! She purchased flashcards on Etsy and framed them in white frames from the dollar store! Great idea for baby nursery wall decor!

This room would definitely be fit for a princess. I love the bed crown above the crib. The simple idea of fabric draping down around the crib makes this baby bedding dreamy!

"Fit for royalty, the French Ancestry Bed Crown is delightfully exquisite. Beautiful carved moldings and garlands are hand painted. Shown in powder blue with creme, choose from several hand finishing options". Visit

When planning to decorate your nursery it is best to give some thought to designing the room that will transition from baby to preschooler.
You can choose a particular children’s book and decorate the room around that theme. Make a display shelf that holds that particular book and place other things on the shelf that fit your theme. For example, I did a church nursery and displayed a Noah’s ark book, and then purchased little plastic animals from a local store: two of each, of course. Then I used a hot glue gun to attach the animals onto the shelf. It turned out adorable.

When deciding on baby room ideas, think about going with a certain theme. For a baby girl's room I decorated with a garden theme. I used a book from Becky Kelly. Later, I went to a local craft store and went through their garden section. I found adorable 2 - 3ft painted flowers made of wood and tin. I also purchased little butterflies and bumble bees.I attached the flowers at the baseboard, and then I used a hot glue gun to attach the little bees and butterflies around the room. The sky is the limit with nursery decorating ideas. But, the best way to come up with them is to go to a local craft store and walk the aisles, or go to a book store and look at the children’s books for ideas.

Nursery Window Treatments

Deciding on nursery window treatment ideas can sometimes be overwhelming. I love the look of long drapes like pictured above. Remember, you can always just go with a solid white or cream.

Having A Professional Wall Mural Painting
There really isn't anything more beautiful in a nursery than having a wall mural painting, or even just a touch of hand painting.Painting in a room can really define the theme of the room. There is nothing like walking into a nursery and feeling like you just entered Dreamland. It is wonderful to surround your child with peaceful sweet images. Hand painted nurseries are one of my favorite nursery decorating ideas.

The nursery mural above was painted by
Leigh Ann Agee,
a wonderful award winning muralist in Nashville, TN. What I love about her artwork in these photos, is the beauty of minimal color. The soft touch of paint on the blue walls is beyond elegant.

Nursery Wall Decor

Everybody loves to display the name of their new bundle! I found these letters at Hobby Lobby! They look adorable above the bed. I put ticky-tack under each letter to keep them firm against the wall.

Instead of using one large mirror, try a grouping. These silver mirrors really worked well above the dresser. I bought ornate, metal scrolls that I painted off-white, and hung one above each mirror.

Hang a shelf in your babies' room. Decorate it with unique accessories. If the shelf has pegs, then hang one of their newborn outfits.

Hang a little silver rattle with white ribbon from the shelf. Find a store that monograms. This little bunny has the babies' name monogrammed on its ear.

Wall Words

You can now find Wall Words just about anywhere. I purchased the one above from a local craft store. They are easy to apply, very affordable, and easily removed. They add a personal touch that works with anyone's budget. You can also purchase single large wall letters from a craft store and hand paint them a color to coordinate with your other nursery decorating ideas.

I hope these nursery decorating ideas are helpful! Also, check out even more adorable baby shower ideas from
