Flower Centerpiece Tutorial

Choosing your flowers is the most important part of creating a stunning centerpiece. When choosing flowers you have to start by deciding on your colors. For this arrangement, I wanted a really soft, pastel color palette.

Next, you need to decide on your floral container. Glass vases come in many shapes and sizes. I like containers that are a little different like glass cylinder vases, that are not too tall. The taller a vase, the harder it is to arrange the flowers. You also do not want your floral arrangement to be too tall and block the view of guests.

I love hydrangeas in floral arrangements. First, they are gorgeous! Second, they help fill in your containers quickly.

You always add your largest flowers first and move down to your smallest flowers. Now, you are ready to add your next flower selection. Cut one flower, place it in vase, and see if it is the right height. Then use that first flower as the pattern for cutting the rest. You don't want to cut your flowers too short!

Start placing your flowers around the white hydrangeas.
Important Tip:
Always trim off the leaves from your floral stems. Leaves soaking in your water will turn it green quickly!

These are the smallest flowers, and the last ones to be added. The yellow in the center adds more detail and color, but in a very delicate way.

When arranging your flowers, don't get frustrated if the flowers tend to shift a little. The more flowers added to the arrangement, the less movement.

I am not a huge fan of baby's breath. (no booing) So, I like to look for unique greenery fillers. This greenery will serve as the anchor for the arrangement.Cut the stems tall, as you want to place them in the center. Be gentle pushing them down in the container. You don't want to crush the hydrangeas.

This flower arrangement idea will have your guests drooling! Total cost for this arrangement including the container - $22.95! Table centerpiece ideas are a fun way to express yourself and make your table glow! You will have a few flowers left over. I love to put them in a smaller vase and set them in the guest bathroom.
